Continuous temperature records for vaccine and medication storage
The Accucold DL2BKIT is a NIST-calibrated digital data logger designed to monitor and record temperatures inside medical refrigerators and freezers. It provides healthcare facilities with a documented temperature history for vaccines, medications, pharmaceuticals, laboratory materials, and other temperature-sensitive products.
The standalone kit is intended for aftermarket installation, making it suitable for adding calibrated temperature monitoring to an existing Accucold or Summit cold-storage unit. It can also be offered as an add-on to Big Ben’s Accucold ARG2PV456 compact vaccine refrigerator and ARS62PVBIADA456 undercounter vaccine refrigerator.
Large display with current, minimum, and maximum temperatures
The LED-illuminated LCD screen displays the current, minimum, and maximum recorded temperatures simultaneously. Readings can be displayed in Celsius or Fahrenheit to the nearest tenth of a degree.
The angled display allows staff to review storage conditions quickly without opening the refrigerator door or navigating multiple display screens.
User-programmable temperature logging
Users can set the recording interval anywhere from 10 seconds to 240 minutes, allowing the monitoring schedule to be adjusted to the clinic’s storage policies and documentation requirements.
The logger stores up to 32,000 groups of readings in its internal memory. A memory indicator shows remaining capacity, and an audible and visual warning activates when available memory reaches approximately 10%.
USB data export for recordkeeping
The included 4 GB USB flash drive allows temperature records to be transferred from the logger to a PC or Mac.
Exported information is saved in CSV format and can be reviewed, organized, graphed, or archived using Microsoft Excel or another CSV-compatible application. This provides clinics with a practical way to retain temperature histories for internal review, inspections, audits, or vaccine-program documentation.
NIST-calibrated glycol-buffered probe
The external temperature sensor is enclosed in a glycol-filled bottle. The glycol buffer reduces the effect of short air-temperature changes caused by opening the refrigerator door and more closely reflects the temperature experienced by stored products.
The logger is calibrated to NIST standards in Accucold’s ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited laboratory and ships with a calibration certificate for the facility’s records.
Audible and visual temperature alarms
Users can program high- and low-temperature limits based on the storage requirements of the monitored products.
When the temperature rises above or falls below the selected range, the logger activates an audible alarm and a flashing visual indicator. Programmable alarm delay and hysteresis settings help prevent repeated or unnecessary alarms caused by brief temperature changes.
Backup recording during a power failure
The DL2BKIT uses an included 12 VDC power adapter during normal operation. A rechargeable backup battery allows the logger to continue recording for up to eight hours when AC power is interrupted.
A low-battery indicator alerts staff when the backup battery needs to be recharged.
Password-protected settings
The logger can be password protected so that only authorized personnel can modify alarm limits, logging intervals, date, time, temperature units, and other programmed settings.
This helps reduce the risk of unapproved or accidental configuration changes in shared clinical environments.
Standalone aftermarket installation
The DL2BKIT is supplied in a durable steel housing and includes Velcro strips for positioning the logger on a suitable surface.
The probe is placed inside the refrigerator or freezer while the display remains outside where it can be easily viewed and heard. Clinics ordering a new compatible Accucold or Summit refrigerator can ask about the factory-installed DL2B configuration instead of the aftermarket kit.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Accucold DL2BKIT do?
The DL2BKIT continuously measures, records, and displays the temperature inside a medical refrigerator or freezer. It stores temperature history that can be exported to a computer for review and recordkeeping.
Is the DL2BKIT NIST calibrated?
Yes. Accucold calibrates the logger in its ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited laboratory, and the unit ships with a calibration certificate.
Does it display the current temperature?
Yes. The large screen displays the current, minimum, and maximum recorded temperatures simultaneously.
How often can it record temperature?
The logging interval can be programmed from once every 10 seconds to once every 240 minutes.
How much data can it store?
The logger can retain up to 32,000 groups of readings in its internal memory. Recorded information can also be transferred using the included 4 GB USB flash drive.
How are temperature records downloaded?
Insert the included USB flash drive into the logger and use the download function to copy the recorded information. The resulting CSV file can be opened on a PC or Mac using Microsoft Excel or another CSV-compatible application.
Does it have temperature alarms?
Yes. The logger provides audible and visual warnings when temperatures exceed the programmed high or low limits. Alarm delay and hysteresis settings can be adjusted to reduce unnecessary alerts.
Why is the probe placed in glycol?
The glycol buffer reduces the effect of brief air-temperature changes caused by opening the refrigerator door. This provides a reading that more closely represents the temperature experienced by stored products.
Will it continue recording during a power failure?
The rechargeable backup battery provides up to eight hours of listed recording time when normal electrical power is unavailable, provided the battery is installed and properly charged.
Can unauthorized staff change the settings?
The logger supports password protection, allowing facilities to restrict configuration changes to authorized personnel.
Can it be added to an existing refrigerator?
Yes. The DL2BKIT is the standalone aftermarket installation kit. Accucold also offers the DL2B option for factory installation on a compatible new Accucold or Summit refrigerator or freezer.
Is it compatible with the Accucold vaccine refrigerators in the Big Ben portfolio?
It can be offered as an aftermarket monitoring accessory for the Accucold ARG2PV456 compact vaccine refrigerator and ARS62PVBIADA456 undercounter vaccine refrigerator. Final installation compatibility and probe routing should be confirmed for the ordered refrigerator configuration.
Can it be used in a freezer?
Accucold describes the DL2BKIT as compatible with refrigerators and freezers. However, IMCO separately lists DL2BKITFZ for freezer installation. Confirm the required configuration with IMCO before quoting the device for a freezer.
How often should it be recalibrated?
The user manual recommends recalibration every two years, although the facility’s quality system, vaccine program, or regulatory requirements may require a shorter interval.
Does the data logger control the refrigerator temperature?
No. It monitors, records, and reports temperature conditions. The refrigerator’s cooling system and controller remain responsible for maintaining the storage temperature.
What warranty is provided?
Accucold lists a one-year parts-and-labor warranty for the DL2BKIT.
