Portable EtCO₂, respiration, SpO₂, and pulse-rate monitoring

The MDPRO Microcap9 is a compact handheld capnograph and pulse oximeter designed for professional respiratory monitoring in emergency care, patient transport, procedure rooms, recovery areas, outpatient facilities, and other clinical environments.

The device simultaneously monitors end-tidal carbon dioxide, carbon-dioxide waveform, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, pulse rate, and plethysmographic waveform. It can be used with intubated patients through the included airway adapter and sampling line or with non-intubated patients through a compatible nasal cannula.

Capnography and pulse-oximetry monitoring

The Microcap9 combines sidestream capnography and pulse oximetry in one portable unit.

Displayed and recorded parameters include:

  • End-tidal carbon dioxide
  • Carbon-dioxide waveform
  • Respiratory rate
  • Oxygen saturation
  • Pulse rate
  • Plethysmographic waveform

The device provides both numerical measurements and graphical waveforms, helping trained healthcare professionals evaluate ventilation and oxygenation together.

Intubated and non-intubated patient use

The Microcap9 supports respiratory monitoring for intubated and non-intubated patients.

For intubated patients, the device connects through the supplied airway adapter and sampling line. For spontaneously breathing non-intubated patients, a compatible nasal sampling cannula may be used.

The selected sampling accessory must be appropriate for the patient, procedure, and clinical environment.

Audio and visual alarms

The device provides configurable audio and visual alarms when monitored values exceed selected limits.

It also includes an apnea alarm to alert clinical staff when the device does not detect respiration within the configured interval. Alarm settings must be selected and verified by qualified personnel before monitoring begins.

Twenty-four-hour trend storage

The Microcap9 stores up to approximately 24 hours of graphical trend information.

Trend data remains available after the device is powered off and can be reviewed to assess changes in EtCO₂, respiratory rate, SpO₂, and pulse rate over time.

USB data transfer

The supplied USB data cable allows compatible monitoring information to be transferred to a computer for review and analysis.

Patient information must be handled according to the healthcare organization’s privacy, cybersecurity, and documentation policies.

Rechargeable portable operation

The Microcap9 contains a built-in rechargeable lithium battery rated for up to approximately ten hours of operation under the manufacturer’s stated conditions.

Its compact dimensions, included silicone protective cover, support base, and canvas carrying bag support bedside, transport, emergency, and mobile clinical workflows.

Environmental and gas compensation

The system includes temperature and pressure compensation, zero readjustment, balance-gas compensation, and body-temperature and pressure-saturated compensation.

These functions support carbon-dioxide measurement under different environmental and respiratory conditions.

Water-filter protection

The included water filters help protect the internal sampling system in humid monitoring environments.

The filter, sampling line, nasal cannula, and airway adapter must be inspected before use and replaced according to the manufacturer’s instructions and the facility’s infection-control procedures.
